Blink ports in with Sunfire, whose power is out of control, so Magneto and Bobby have to contain him. Delgado pokes his head through the portal, so Blink closes it on him. Sunfire reports that the cullings Apocalypse disavowed are actually being carried out by his son, Holocaust. Apocalypse sits above a pile of human remains in his capital in Manhattan. He tells Rex his predictions were correct about Delgado, and they have located the X-Men's base. Magneto has sent Gambit on another mission, but he takes time to say goodbye to Rogue. Blink arrives with her son Charles before they can kiss. Kurt is concerned that Bishop is a distraction from their effort to help humans evacuate through Maine, but he trusts Magneto, who thinks this whole universe may yet be undone. Rogue, Blink, Sunfire, Sabretooth, Wild Child, and Morph go to stop the cullings. Havok ports in, so Jean deals with him while Logan destroys the control center. Havok blasts Jean, but Logan returns and stomps him. They get to their Sentinel; Havok follows, so the Sentinel puts him back in the transporter and gets rid of him. A swarm of Sentinels and transports fly over the deactivated sea wall, evacuating humans from Maine to Europe. Cyclops tells Apocalypse that Sinister has fed information to their enemies. Havok has been fused with the Sentinel's hand, but he alerts them that Logan and Jean were responsible. The Human High Council is considering a Doomsday strike against Apocalypse. Then Magma attacks, and Logan immediately guts her. Braddock assembles the attack force of huge aircraft, but Jean says it's madness. Two years ago, he left the X-Men because Rogue married Magneto, and he has Lila now. Magneto wants them to steal the M'Kraan crystal, so he can reshape reality. Rictor is angry that his squad can't catch the X-Ternals. He wants to make a name for himself. Magneto leads them to a door, behind which is Apocalypse's science lab. Madri attack; Jubilee explodes their cloaks, felling them all. Sunspot finds Corbeau, who explains the lab is the remains of Ship. He has scanned for the Shi'ar galaxy; Magneto tells Lila she needs to use her dormant mutant power to teleport them there, so he cybernetically hooks her into the computers. Rictor's squad attacks; Magneto tells Remy to stay with Lila while he deals with them. Lila opens a portal, which suck in the X-Ternals and Rictor with them. Magneto leaves; Corbeau self-destructs the lab. Issue: Gambit and the X-Ternals 2 Date: Apr-95 Story: Where No External Has Gone Before! Starbolt attacks Sunspot with solar energy, and Gladiator throws a rock onto Guido: mistakes both. The team makes it into a forest, but the trees attack them. B'nee and C'cil can't track them, but Rictor says he planted a tracking device on one of them. Emperor D'Ken's telepaths have warned him about this planet, Ch'reesharaa, and these mutants. The universe blinks. The "nexus expansion" is approaching, so Gladiator orders retreat. Jonath, half-Shi'ar and half-Mephistoid, says D'Ken used the M'Kraan crystal to oust Deathbird and kill Lilandra. But since the nine stars aligned, the power is out of his control and nullifying the universe. The Imperial Guard finds and attacks them, but the world begins to crystallize. Just in time, the Starjammers teleport the X-Ternals to their ship. (Note: Deathbird's name is revealed to be Cal'syee.) Kurt wants him to arrange passage for him to Avalon, so he can find Destiny. Magneto contacts Mystique, ordering her to meet Kurt in Avalon. She has been ferrying people there, for a price. Angel sends Kurt to an old Stark warehouse, where Proudstar is holding a ghost dance. Kurt hates churches; Proudstar doesn't like the Darkholmes; Kurt ports away with the finger he pointed at him, then demands passage. He puts him on the sub Excalibur, with other refugees. Dani is an informant; she tells Apocalypse Kurt is at the ghost dance, and Avalon is in Antarctica. Destiny welcomes Switchback, but when she touches her, she sees Apocalypse. The battle is brief, and Havok kills Artemis, to save Scott from her knife. In the statue of Apocalypse in New York harbor, Sinister plots his overthrow, before he starts a world war. Apocalypse had put in him charge of breeding the next generation of mutants, and now his "children" are on their own. The Guthries guard the pens full of test subjects. Havok and Sam both resent Scott's insistence on benevolence. Havok visits Beast in his lab: he dissolves people and uses their genetic material to grow Infinites, who only last about a year. He is willing to support Havok, but says Apocalypse won't tolerate killing Scott. Havok goes next to Angel's club, which is interrupted by gunfire: Gyrich, who has himself wired with explosives. The Bedlam brothers scramble his mind and equipment, and he is escorted out. Scarlett and Havok are having a scandalous secret affair: human and mutant. Sinister has been missing for days, so Scott has the Bedlams break into his sanctum, which he wrecked before he left. Scott realizes he abandoned them, so he takes charge, but Havok has other ideas. Sinister remotely detonates the statue. Husk turns her hands to acid and burns his head, but he slaps her away, then Kitty attacks her with her claws. She feigns defeat, then stabs Kitty through the belly with her arm, now a diamond spike, but Kitty phases through it. Chamber drops a tree on Colossus, and Skin wraps up Kitty, who pulls him out of a tree. Husk morphs to a bio-pattern that Kitty can't phase through and takes her out, even though Skin is still in the way. Colossus is angry at Husk, but Vincente captures him, while Claudia ineffectively calls and end to the session. Magneto arrives and freezes everyone in place. He takes Colossus and Kitty aside, explaining about Bishop. Although Apocalypse killed all known time travelers, Claudia scans for those with an unrecognized power. She learns Illyana is alive, in Portland. He brings him back to his body, where he sees he has blasted the terrain, endangering his team. Forge says he has to stop training by himself, and they need to move along. Forge's team wanders and puts on plays in the ruins of the Midwest. Mastermind makes sure no one sees them for what they really are, but the local prelate is suspicious. Nate uses his power to change his mind, but Forge says every time he uses his power it's like a beacon. Cyclops tells Apocalypse that Sinister has fled. Shadow King warns him of a powerful psi, which gives Cyclops thoughts of rebellion. Apocalypse sends Domino to capture or kill this new threat. In Kansas, Infinites put humans including Theresa into boxcars. Forge's team derails the train and frees them, but then Infinites attack, wounding Soaron. Nate lets loose with his power, and Theresa's sonic power manifests. She realizes she's a mutant and will never be helpless again. Forge is unhappy with Nate, but the team moves on. They meet a man named Essex, who says he can help. She sees his memories of the massacre in Japan, and that he blames himself for not stopping it. In Westchester, Magneto cradles his son, saying goodbye in case the world dies. Apocalypse is angry at Abyss's failure to stop the evacuation of Maine. But Rex has located Magneto's base. Sabretooth asks a reluctant Blink to teleport him and Wild Child to Holocaust, a suicidal delaying tactic. Rogue tries to stop it, but Blink zaps her and then sends them along to Indianapolis. Sabretooth wakes Wild Child, and they confront Holocaust, who tells him the location of the Infinite processing plant. Sabretooth sends Wild Child off with that information, then fights. Nemesis's first kill was the Scarlet Witch, for which Magneto destroyed him, and now he is Holocaust, in body armor. Sabretooth lets loose on him, rips off his helmet, but then collapses. Magneto helps Exodus expand his powers, so he can transport the team to Maine. Storm whips up the weather around a monitoring tower in Newfoundland, to mask the approach of the Sentinels. They fill the sky, destroy the tower, and land near the humans, scaring them as they rescue them. They detect mutants nearby; Dazzler projects images of Logan and Jean Grey to distract them; Quicksilver inserts a disk into one and reprograms them to ignore the X-Men. But they still detect mutants, and one blasts Bobby, leaving him in shards. The Brotherhood have scrambled the disk, and they stand ready to attack. Meanwhile, Abyss has abducted the boy Jeremy. Storm uses lightning to delay them, but they are still needed to evacuate the humans. Sean goes alone after the Madri but finds him dead at the door of his aircraft. Abyss killed him for his failure, and he shows Sean he has Jeremy inside him, hostage. He tells Sean to send Quicksilver to him. His girlfriend Storm backs him up. They enter the ship and find the boy catatonic. Quicksilver punches out Abyss, then twists his ribbon-like body, making him fall endlessly into himself. They return the boy to his parents, and learn that the Sentinel directive to protect humans has overcome their aversion to mutants. Rex tortures Karma for information about Angel and Gambit. Chang and DuPris are making a break for it, following an image of Magneto. Polaris sees him and asks to go, too, but he says the risk of discovery is too great. Alex and Scott discuss Sinister with Apocalypse: he knows to expect a devious plot but is convinced he will endure. He offers to make Scott his next Horseman, which infuriates Alex. The Guthries tell Alex about the escape, and they go to interrogate Polaris. She says it was her father, Magneto; Alex says she's crazy and slaps her; she attacks him with her power; he turns her over to Beast, who knows her story: parents killed in a culling, she manifested her magnetism and went mad, power stolen by Rogue. Scott has the Bedlams investigate the remains of Sinister's base in the statue of Apocalypse. Angel visits, worried that a war is about to start. Alex visits Scarlett and says he's plotting to get rid of his brother. Scarlett is an informant for the Human High Council, but she wants out before she's captured like Karma. Polaris's magnetism screws up Beast's scanners, so he plans brain surgery, but Scott stops him, since that would violate the Kelly Pact. Beast tells him the Pact is a ploy, and Apocalypse will destroy all humans. Scott asserts his authority, now that Sinister is gone, and Beast submits. That night, a cloaked figure with one red eye rescues her from the pens. She thinks it's Magneto. Northstar and Aurora catch them, having been alerted by Alex, but Scott and Polaris knock them out. Scott hands her over to Val, and Alex sees them.
