Synopsis:	The special police jailed Shirohana and Logan without a fight. He
expects the Hand to break in and plans to follow them back to Yukio. Sure enough,
a priest shows up, attacks the guard, and rips Logan's cell open. His claws
bounce off him: he is the Iron Monk, and no mortal weapon can harm him. While
Logan and Shirohana have their heads handed to them, Yohei, in a black suit, pops
up through a trapdoor. The Silver Samurai sent him to give Logan the honor sword
(iss. 82). Forged by a demon, it kills the Iron Monk. Logan carries Shirohana,
unconscious, down the trapdoor and to the docks.
Amiko's sitters say Yukio and Logan abandoned her and try to win her loyalty
with toys.
The Blue Monkey Gang attacks Yohei, but he makes short work of them.
Shirohana wakes and says although Yohei feigns stupidity, he's the Yashida's
secret weapon. Yohei says Shirohana is a mutant and doesn't even know it. Both
pledge themselves to help Logan rescue Amiko.
Emi and Sumi fail to kill a noodle vendor who sold information to all sides
including an American spy, Daryll Smith. Akatora is furious and sends
Cyber-Ninjas to kill Logan.

Story:	<untitled> (22 pages)
Feature Characters:	Wolverine
Regular Characters:	Yukio, Amiko
Guest Stars:	Shirohana
Villains:	Akatora and the Hand including Emi, Sumi, Yohei, Cyber-Ninjas
including Toshi; a noodle vendor
Other Characters:
Credits:	<none>
Synopsis:	Cyber-Ninjas confront the noodle vendor; Logan shows up and coolly
helps himself to a bowl while the vendor defeats them himself, and then helps him
defeat the reinforcements in exchange for information.
Emi and Sumi hypnotize Amiko, making her believe Logan was the dragon that
killed her mother (UXM 181, more than 12 years ago). They give her a blade tipped
with blowfish toxin to kill him.
Logan boats to Akatora's private island, which houses a movie studio, and all
the cameramen, grips, and actors are in the Hand. Akatora dons his Kojiro dragon
suit and films a scene where creatures from the sea attack him. Logan wades in
and demands Amiko; the costumed actors attack, and as they have planned, trap his
hands when he impales them. Logan continues to charge, kicking off the head of
the cyborg with the machine gun. Shirohana and the noodle vendor pull out machine
guns, too, and many cyborgs fall, and then with Yohei they find and rescue Yukio
and Amiko.
Akatora and more machine gunning: the cyborgs attached to Logan's hands are
blown to bits, so Logan can attack Akatora. He falls but tells Logan one of his
friends is a double agent about to kill Amiko. Logan sniffs and throws his sword
through Yohei, who was too good to be Yakuza. Akatora escapes and gloats that the
real assassin, Amiko, is planted near Logan.

Synopsis:	A bear happens upon a cave full of jars and opens one: forces emerge
and make him large and mean.
Jocko and Peter rob convenience stores and shoot people across western
Canada. They hide in a forest, and Shaman asks Logan to track them. Shaman had a
vision warning him a Great Beast has been unleashed (cf. Alpha Flight I:24). He
finds the cave and realizes the spirit is loose.
The Totebind family goes around the Mounties and into the woods, camping.
Jocko and Peter bump into and rob them; Logan interrupts, and it's a standoff:
shotgun vs. claws. But then the bear shows up, and everyone runs but Logan and
Bob (brave, but quickly swiped aside). Shaman watches, waiting for Logan to stun
the beast. Logan walks to the edge of his humanity, but then sheathes his claws
and fights like a man, and Shaman puts the genie back in the bottle.
Jocko has run the station wagon into a tree. He orders Peter to kill
Catherine and the kid, but he hesitates, and then Logan and Bob show up and turn
them over to the Mounties. The Totebind family still has problems, and so does
Logan.

(Henry McCoy), Bishop, Storm (Ororo Munroe), Cannonball (Sam Guthrie), Iceman

Synopsis:	Logan takes a cab back to the mansion; it hasn't been repaired since
Onslaught, and some of the walls are really holographs. The team is throwing a
going-away party for Iceman, who wants to be with his wounded father (UXM 340).
Logan finds him in his room and says he regrets not having known him better. He
respects him and will help if called on.
Culloden sent Logan a holoprojector with a message, asking him to safeguard a
box, and warning him he will soon be "the nexus of malevolent energies." Logan
opens the box but can't describe its contents.
Storm gives Iceman a mutant rose (iss. 96), and says it can't survive long
outside its hothouse, like the X-Men.
The team goes to Harry's Hideaway, Cannonball riding with Logan on his
Harley. Logan feels out of place, missing Kitty, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee. He
heads alone to the Auger Inn, where the jukebox is full of musicians who died in
plane crashes. He toasts his own ghosts (Rose, Archie, O'Donnell, Silver Fox),
till the bar closes. He goes to Xavier's empty office (see X-Men II:57) and talks
to him anyway, saying he never fit in until the X-Men. With dawn, his hope is
renewed.
He goes for a workout in the Danger Room, but Ogun takes over and says he has
Mariko and can resurrect her. Logan won't submit, but Mariko reaches out, and
Stick has to stick her back in the grave. Stick says Ogun is the reason he sent
Elektra to rescue Logan (iss. 100), and Logan must stay on the path no matter
what.
Logan buys a bike and tells Cannonball to break it in for him, while he rides
his Harley away. He says to tell Storm he's no hothouse flower.

Synopsis:	In lower Manhattan, punks Sturm and Drang try to rob Kirstin of her
guitar. Logan tells them to back off, and when the big one laughs at him, Logan
grabs his tongue and pulls. They flee; Kirstin thanks him and offers to rent him
an apartment in her building. Her boyfriend Clive, in a wheelchair, is bitter. A
mime on a unicycle is kidnapped down a cellar.
Logan calls Phoenix, saying he's decided to live in the real world for a
while; Phoenix still wants him to meet the team in Scotland (X-Men II:62) and
says they care about him.
Logan explores his new, low-rent neighborhood, full of bad restaurants and
unhinged and bigoted people. He can't sleep at night, thinking about his life,
blaming himself especially for Xavier becoming Onslaught. He works out but can't
tire himself, has beer and cheese, and when he looks out the window, the mime
cycles down, juggling knives. Logan shakes his head and turns away.
Next day he volunteers to help rebuild housing destroyed by Onslaught. The
boss, Helen, thinks he's running from something, but he says he's just tired of
navel-gazing. They see Sturm and Drang trashing Logan's bike and together knock
them down; they come to their senses, having been possessed while fighting the
mime. Helen doesn't want to explain where she learned to fight. Logan takes his
bike upstairs to his apartment and finds the mime inside.

Synopsis:	The mime is juggling the box from Culloden (iss. 111), so Logan pops
claws. He remembers seeing the box in Shanghai: he helped an old man and his
student keep it from two bullying Japanese soldiers (that would be in the 1930s).
An officer saw and killed the dishonorable soldier; Logan prevented him carrying
out sentence on the younger one. He was impressed and offered to teach Logan
martial arts someday. He was Ogun.
Logan catches the mime, who twists away and breaks his wrist but keeps
fighting, anyway. Logan realizes he's possessed, and he has to fight him without
hurting him. So he just takes the hits, waiting for the mime to exhaust himself.
Storm and Phoenix come to see Logan's new digs. Helen sees two women at his
door and walks away, stricken. The X-women hear a fight, burst in, and disarm and
fell the mime using TK and wind. Phoenix scans the mime's mind, so Ogun leaps to
her body. Phoenix throws a knife at Storm, and Logan takes it in the gut. The
sight of such selflessness shocks Ogun, and Phoenix expels him.
Logan suits up and says he wants to settle this alone. Ogun possesses Helen.
Hellstorm now lives in Fire Lake, Mass. He is the son of Satan by a human
woman and works to balance light and dark. He uses a scrying crystal and sees
that an ancient, dangerous object has returned.

Synopsis:	Logan goes out in the rain in costume. Kirstin and Clive (who was
crippled by a costumed freak) don't recognize him but tell him Helen was acting
strangely. He follows down an alley and finds Hellstorm, whom he recognizes as a
Defender. Hellstorm confirms the box is safe and warns Logan the evil will attack
him and his, but Hellstorm must let them make their own decisions. Logan: "Thanks
for nothing, pal!"
Deathstrike is also in the alley and attacks: the box was her father's. Her
cybernetics are now self-repairing (see Domino LS), and Logan gives them a
workout. He agrees to return the box to her after he talks to Culloden;
Deathstrike agrees and wants to go with.
Phoenix and Storm guard the box in Logan's apartment, and when there's a
blackout they realize it glows in the dark. They open it: it is interdimensional
and fabulously valuable. Ogun in Helen found her stash of guns and breaks in; TK
and wind put her down, and Phoenix battles Ogun on the psi-plane and fells him,
freeing Helen.
Logan admits to Helen that he's a superhero; Helen tells Logan she was in the
Gulf War, captured and abused by Iraqi soldiers. She was psychologically unstable
but rebuilt her life.

body into his form. Logan finally realizes who he's fighting.

claws. Looking for answers, they send him to MacLain in Washington, who invented
adamantium. The plane is an experimental jet, and Grimm is the pilot and
nicknames him "Canuklehead."
SHIELD and Hydra both observe Logan entering the Dept. of Agriculture (iss.
49-50). MacLain doesn't believe his story till he sees the claws, and then runs
tests. He is horrified to see his metal bonded to a human; he's still trying to
recreate the even stronger alloy used in Capt. America's shield, but he knows
Darkwind was working on a bonding process. Creed walks in; Logan doesn't
recognize him and goes with him into an alley. Creed pulls a gun; just then Hydra
attacks, wanting to capture Logan for their own use; just then Fury and Danvers
attack and rescue Logan while Creed keeps Hydra busy. Logan doesn't remember
Fury, Danvers, or Havana cigars.
Hydra shoots out their tires, and Logan pops claws to defend his new old
friends. Romanov appears and bazookas Hydra's car, not wanting Logan to fall into
their hands. She leaves; Creed arrives and pulls a gun, but Logan pops claws,
knocks him down, and takes his cowboy hat. Creed promises vengeance; Fury and
Danvers let Logan walk away, hoping he finds peace. Hydra considers shooting
Logan with a missile but instead predicts his dark side will take over and
destroy Hydra's opposition. Logan returns to Canada.

that Logan reached his hand toward Phoenix, a detail Bastion wouldn't have
thought of.
Bastion gloats to Xavier, who says men die but dreams live. Bastion says
Logan is dead; the soldiers remove the power dampeners from his body and prepare
to incinerate it. It heals, of course, and Logan claws out of the furnace and
attacks the guards. He disguises himself in one of their uniforms and first
rescues Cannonball, who is being beaten. Bastion is soon alerted the X-Men are
free. Phoenix mind-tricks the guards, impersonating Bastion and giving them each
a different password so they shoot each other. The X-Men take an elevator to the
surface and prepare to fight.
Bastion seals the base and activates the Prime Sentinels. Storm overcomes her
claustrophobia and electrocutes them all; but Cyclops blasts the door to no
avail. The X-Men are surrounded, till Jubilee bashes her head on the button that

into Prime Sentinels, shows them the mutants, which triggers their transformation
into Prime Sentinels. Phoenix scans and says they have some humanity left, so the
X-Men have to attack without killing. Ruby-red beam, lightning, and blast field
take down three, but the last kills a man and takes a woman hostage. She fights,
and Logan puts down the Sentinel. The remaining patients realize they're all part
cyborg, which will corrupt their minds. The X-Men decide to shut down the clinic.
Bastion receives a report that Sabra is in the U.S. (see X-Men II:68-69). He
calls Prospero and orders him to activate all Prime Sentinels, even if they're
not finished, since SHIELD was ordered to shut down OZT.
Jubilee walks across the desert (see Generation X 31) and throws fireworks at
a shape in the dark, which turns out to be a cactus. This attracts a Prime
Sentinel, which is now ordered to kill her. She places fireworks right in his
mouth and eyes and runs for it; fortunately Logan smelled trouble and rescues
her. Jubilee hugs him, and Logan carries her piggyback to the X-Men.

Synopsis:	Logan arrives in town, slashes through guards, and finds the
townspeople murdered and tied up on display. McLeish's voice taunts him, and a
gasoline bomb explodes under him. McLeish had been pushed into the water by the
motorcycle explosion (iss. 119) and later rescued by the Triads, who lost one of
their own and helped McLeish implement a plan to kill Logan. He hired all the
best killers, whom Logan has now killed or maimed.
Logan finds out it's not McLeish but the Triad boss's son. He plans to shoot
Logan's brains out with adamantium bullets, but he talks too long, and Logan guts
him.
Logan finds McLeish behind a door and orders him out; McLeish fires a gun,
with poisoned adamantium bullets. Logan's healing factor is at its limit, and
McLeish wants to chat, saying all these killers were his own organization, not
the Triads. Logan lies, saying he killed his son in British Columbia; McLeish,
angry, gets too close, and Logan catches his head with his claws. Third claw: no
more McLeish.
Logan sets a fire to wipe away the mess, uneasy that he used lies and fear to
kill.

Synopsis:	Logan is shackled and repeatedly beaten by Roughouse and Bloodscream
(iss. 23 and 86, resp.).
Logan had been in his ruined apartment (iss. 119), and realized the futility
of trying to find normal people to live among. He entered a deli that a gunman
was shaking down for protection money. He trailed him to his bosses in a
warehouse but was ambushed.
The beatings continue, trying to overload his healing factor. Roughouse and
Bloodscream are working for the Black Tarantula, but this is a private vengeance.
Logan blames himself for getting sloppy (cf. X-Men II:72). He rallies, breaks his
own hand, and pulls it free of the manacle. He kicks the heel off his boot, gets
the lock picks Storm gave him, and gets the other hand free. He attacks his
captors; Logan suspects Roughouse is a Norse rock troll. Bloodscream touches him,
draining blood right through the skin. Logan impales him and then battles
Roughouse again, finally grabbing him around the neck, and he surrenders. Logan
walks away.

Synopsis:	Logan is determined to get his edge back. He trains martial arts
with Mabel, who criticizes his bent elbows. He sees Cap is doing a charity event,
and he senses something wrong. He goes backstage, pushing past a cop and slashing
wildly at the air, panicking everyone. He questions his senses and his sanity.
Cap arrives; Logan leaps at him, but Cap just ducks aside, realizing Logan is
going for an invisible intruder. Logan takes his goggles and can see all the
cloaked Rodents; he gives Cap another helmet, and they attack; the battle moves
onto the stage, and the Rodents decloak, rerouting the power to their weapons.
Cap and Logan beat them, Rascal threatens to blow himself up; Logan says he's
bluffing, and Cap throws his (new) shield, ending the battle.
The audience applauds, something Logan isn't used to. He respects Cap's
abilities and stability.
