Crimson tells them her plan to attack Warren, and Azure violates the mind of a stock broker, hospitalizing him. Warren breaks up a gang war but is caught on camera and denounced by Trish as a vigilante. Jean returns from a visit with the X-Men (Uncanny X-Men 261-263). Azure goes to the hospital and starts to kill the broker with his own memories. Warren intervenes but Azure takes control of his mind. This has the side-effect of freeing Warren's wings, which instinctively decapitate Azure (he dissolves into flaming mist). The Ravens must now add Warren to their ranks, or their circle will be permanently broken. Crimson instead wants to absorb Warren's power, allow the other Ravens to die, and survive alone. Warren stops street thugs from burning a homeless woman. Crimson introduces herself as a friend, and renders him unconscious. Jones intervenes, and before Crimson can attack her, the sun rises, and she must flee. Hank argues with Trish over her reporting of Warren. He believes himself to still be Angel and tries to do his banking as Warren Worthington. Guards confront him, assuming he is robbing the bank. The Right and X-Factor immediately go to the bank. Warren beats off the Right and flies away. Forge and Banshee arrive, saying that believe a subcutaneous poison capsule is causing Warren's madness. They all attack him in the boardroom of the Worthington Building and place a shackle around his waist that inhibit his powers, but then the Ravens transport him away. X-Factor search for them, Jean using reemerging telepathic powers to sense them, and interrupt Warren feeding on Jones. While they attack the Ravens, Crimson attacks Warren, trying to absorb his power for herself. Jones removes the inhibitor belt from Warren, and he decapitates Crimson. Jean decapitates the leader Cobalt with a giant ankh, and the rest of the Ravens dissolve into fiery mist. Forge removes the poison pellet from Warren's skin. Warren goes to Charlotte's apartment, gets a lecture from her mother-in-law and adulation from her son. Her husband had been shot and her son crippled in a shoot-out between white gang members. Hank, Scott, and Jean test Christopher's mutant ability to project a force bubble, and Scott and Jean reconcile. Trish voices her concerns over her own reporting of mutant activity and is sent by Paul on assignment to India. Bobby takes Opal ice-sledding, and Warren takes Charlotte flying - budding romances. Opal receives a disturbing letter. Warren, happy and more like his old self, holds a smooth interview with the media. Cooper summons X-Factor to Washington to let them know the U.S. government will not oppose their rescuing the New Mutants. They land on the coast of Genosha and are promptly attacked. The amnesiac Havok is now a Genoshan magistrate and fights Scott. The Genoshans retreat. Boom-Boom, Rictor, and Storm escape and try to make their way to the U.S. embassy. Alex attacks them, but Scott grabs him and makes him remember his real identity, but Hodge arrives, to Havok pretends to still be a magistrate and shoots his brother. The mutants have been freed and have had their powers restored with the help of the Genegineer, whom Hodge has killed. Rictor and Wolfsbane find the wounded Hodge, and Wolfsbane attacks him. She has been transformed by the Genegineer and is much more aggressive and powerful in her wolf form than previously. Storm and Warren arrive and attack Hodge but are defeated, and Hodge tries to repay Warren by decapitation. Havok, Scott, Jean and Wolverine intervene, but Hodge defeats all but the Summers brothers. They confront Hodge on the top of the Citadel and together blast him, but he is kept alive by the power of a demon and manages to pull them both over the edge. Jean catches them, and Rictor collapses the Citadel, burying Hodge's immortal head beneath its rubble. Hank has rounded up the remaining mutants and discovered that the magistrates rebelled and captured their insane president. They announce new elections, and Havok and Wolfsbane remain in Genosha to ensure fairness to mutates. Back in Westchester, Boom-Boom sprinkles Warlock's ashes on Doug's grave, and there is a promising sparkle of light. They are suddenly attacked by Yazuka, who throw Bobby out a window and abduct Opal before he can stop them. The Tanakas tell Bobby that Lord Tatsu'o is her grandfather and beg his help in rescuing her. Tatsu'o tells Opal that she has been brought to Japan to choose a husband and bear an heir to his criminal empire. Bobby and Jean Scott fly to Japan, and Mariko offers to have her ninjas rescue Opal during a sumo-wrestling match that Tatsu'o is sponsoring. During the match, Opal cries out for help, and Bobby attacks prematurely, as do Mariko's ninjas, who are swiftly defeated. Tatsu'o teleports away with his granddaughter. Note: Scott, Jean, and Bobby have new blue and gold uniforms with this issue. Opal tries and fails to escape on her own, and Tatsu'o has Hiro shackled but then, when Bobby attacks, gives him the chance to redeem himself in battle. Jean telekinetically transports Mariko and her ninjas into the compound, and they learns that Shizu'ko has poisoned Tatsu'o's tea. The ninjas free Opal. The Cyberpunks, jealous of Hiro, attack him, and Bobby saves him. Hiro is duty-bound to fight him, but they do so without enhanced abilities. Hiro is a much better fighter, but he allows Bobby to defeat him in order to prove himself a man, not a killing machine. The Tatsu'o mansion explodes. Apocalypse's thugs crash their ship into Ship, board, and attack. Psynapse attacks Jean on the astral plane, and this triggers the resurgence of her telepathic power. She quickly defeats Psynapse and Gauntlet, and the other villains have already been subdued. Meanwhile, however, Hardware is infiltrating Ship's cybernetic core, shutting it down. Note: the first part of the Apocalypse Manifesto is appended to this issue, giving an analysis of Warren, Scott, and Jean. Scott is listed as progenitor of "the Twelve." The police storm Ship, but it allows only Charlotte to enter. Gauntlet tries to abduct her and is foiled by Warren. Hank is able to establish communication with Ship, which announces that it is dying but unwilling to be controlled by Apocalypse again. It rockets into space and plans to self-destruct, and Apocalypse prudently teleports his people away. Hank tries valiantly to rewrite Ship's programming, but it explodes in space anyway. Note: the second part of the Apocalypse Manifesto is appended to this issue, giving an analysis of Bobby and Hank. Issue: X-Factor 67 Date: Jun-91 Story: Lunar Opposition! It is revealed that Askani is from the future, trying to change her past in order to save her present. X-Factor and the Inhumans attack Apocalypse's stronghold on the moon. They project holographs of themselves, drawing their foes' attention, and then attack from the rear. Sneaky. The Inhumans freed, X-Factor attack Apocalypse directly, and realize that they are in the same place where Phoenix died. Jump to a chalet in Interlaken, Switzerland, where Shinobi Shaw has just bought out his father's business and ruined him. He uses his mutant control of his density to give Sebastian a heart-attack and furthermore blows up the chalet. In Apocalypse's base in the Inhuman Great Refuge on the Moon: X-Factor defeat the Riders, only to be defeated by Medusa and Crystal, only to be freed by Black Bolt, Karnak, and Gorgon. Askani looks on, sees Hank and Jean about to touch Christopher Nathan's creche, and prevents them from electrocuting themselves on it. They realize that the baby has been infected with a virus by Apocalypse and is likely to die. The baby yanks Jean's into the astral plane, to get her help combating it, which is personified as an amalgam of Apocalypse and the baby himself. Jean yanks Scott in to help, and he blasts the Apocalypse avatar. They jump back to physical reality, where Apocalypse is defeated, but the baby is still dying. Askani claims to be able to take him away and save his life, and Scott reluctantly lets him go (he later returns, adult, as Cable). The Watcher applauds his choice. Val has called X-Factor to Washington, where hysterical anti-mutant crowds have gathered. A gunshot rings out, and they surge forward to quell the crowd, capture the gunman, and get his victim an ambulance. On Muir Island, Forge, Wolverine, and Rogue are ready to attack the Shadow King but are attacked by Banshee, whom they subdue and release from the Shadow King's control with one of Forge's gizmos (a microscopic neurosynaptic buffer, to be specific). The Shadow King is creating hatred around the world and using a mutated Polaris to focus the energy back to himself. Also, he has taken agent Reisz as a host body and is controlling Val. X-Factor enters Muir Island Research Center, defeat Moira, Madrox, Psylocke, Gambit, and Jubilee, and are attacked by Legion. Meanwhile, Reisz reveals his true colors and attacks Xavier. Mystique emerges from behind the form of Val Cooper, and blows Reisz's head off, pushing the Shadow King back to the astral plane. This also causes Legion to go out of control. X-Factor, and the others find Polaris but are unable to break her link to the Shadow King because it would kill her. The Shadow King takes Legion as his next host, and he blows up the island. Mystique and Rogue; Wolverine and Jubilee; Polaris and Guide have heart-to-hearts. Xavier learns that he is again indefinitely wheelchair-bound. Hank, Val, and Xavier each try to figure out how to reorganize the X-teams.
