defend her, and when Forge catches her, she ports away.
Forge briefs the team on her: she preaches the dawn of a golden age that can
only be brought about by disasters, which her group therefore causes. Lorna
doesn't believe this, since the government has lied to them and tried to kill her
(iss. .96) Alex agrees to go over the files with her and decide if X-Factor
should be involved.
Jamie argues with himselves. Different aspects of his personality are becoming
separate dupes, and when he tries to reunify, he can't absorb two of them.

Haven is a terrorist. She notes that the government is capable of exaggeration
and distortion.
Random offers to help X-Factor find the people that paid him to kill Lorna.
After a harsh exchange, Forge hires him to provide that information, plus
assistance against Haven.
Rahne, half-crazy because of her mutate bond to Alex, almost tries to kill
him.
Forge sends the team to arrest Haven, but they are confronted by Monsoon, and
Random starts a fight. Haven calls a cease fire, and they all sit down to talk.
Haven explains that she is causing disasters in order to end the current age
and bring in the golden one. When Val supports this, Rahne nearly rips her throat
out. Haven catches her, sends her through oblivion, and heals her. She can assume

of the world, starting with a satellite-induced earthquake in California. This
convinces Alex and Lorna to arrest her.
Haven sends them all to oblivion, and there psychoanalyzes each member of the
team. They rematerialize in a cell, and Random has to reform his body from goop.
Monsoon and Val release them, revealing that they are secretly working together
to stop Haven before she kills more innocents. Haven's troops attack, but when
Alex and Lorna work together to blast Haven's satellite out of the sky (good
aim!), she calls them off.
Jamie has come to her to be healed of the Legacy Virus, and collapses. Alex

Alex, so they fight. Lorna wakes and stops them. Malice in Alex explodes,
knocking all down. Lorna, in desperation, attacks Alex. Sinister tells Malice to
leave Alex's body and possess Lorna. Lorna agrees to this, to save Alex, but
Alex's consciousness fights the process, to save Lorna. Malice, unable to possess
either, screams. Sinister plucks the incorporeal being away and crushes her
choker, destroying her. He disappears with the Nasty Boys, promising to always
take an interest in the Summers family.

Synopsis:	NOTE: this issue is part 1 of the Phalanx Covenant: Life Signs.
X-Factor flies to a monastery in northern France at Xavier's request and are
met by suspicious members of X-Force and Excalibur. Boomer and Guido tussle,
until Xavier appears. He brings them inside and explains that the X-Men were
attacked by Phalanx, a techno-organic life form that is trying to replace all
life on earth, and capable of cloning.
The Phalanx was transmitted electronically from the Xavier mansion to Muir
Island, where Xavier, Moira and Excalibur fought it and then fled, soon realizing
that Xavier's chair and their hovercraft were also compromised and had to be
destroyed. They washed ashore at Mont St. Francis, the old base of the Acolytes
(Uncanny X-Men 300).
Rahne sneaks off to see Douglock, who locked himself away to prove that he is
not a threat. Xavier brings Forge to examine Douglock, to better understand the
Phalanx. He is struck dumb at the beauty of the construction.
Shinar attacks a shepherd. Inside the Phalanx, Lang argues with Hodge; it
seems parts of the Phalanx are starting to think independently, and mutants
cannot be absorbed into the collective consciousness.
Douglock relates the history of the Phalanx: after the Extinction Agenda, the
Genoshans sold Warlock's remains to scientists, who wanted to create a new breed
of living Sentinels. They abducted Lang to be the core mind of the Phalanx, who
went mad from it. Various prototypes were created, including some made by
absorbing volunteers, and Douglock, who was based on Doug Ramsey's engrams, and
who was able to become independent through the intervention of Zero. The Phalanx
is adapting to earth, following the genetic impulse to expand, just like
Warlock's race.
Douglock "acquires" Forge, for his knowledge, Cannonball attacks, and Rahne
tries to negotiate. Douglock subdues them and runs off with them to stop "Babel."
NOTE: a pun-up of Alex, Forge, Cannonball, Shadowcat, Boomer, and Nightcrawler
follows.

toward a fuel truck, which they are almost able to avoid. Blob catches the front
wheel of a 747, breaks through the floorboards, and demands to be taken to St.
Croix.
In the Shi'ar danger room, the team practices detecting Mystique, when they
hear the news and rush off to Dulles.
Guido, meanwhile, has been dropped through five stories of control tower and
nearly run over by the 747, which he brakes before it crashes. (While doing so,
he feels a pressure in his chest.) He and Blob duke it out some more; Guido lifts
him and the ground under him, exposing wires; the fuel truck explodes; Guido

Legion's own personality is dominant. It seems he has spent his time in coma
talking to Destiny's ghost.
X-Factor catches Mystique by trailing Avalanche, who attacks with a tidal
wave, which Alex blasts down.
Legion talks with his father (Prof. X, see Uncanny X-Men 319), and runs away.

Jornik. It seems he robbed her stash, including an urg egg, which should not have
