Synopsis:	Note: here begins X-Force as a "Counter-X"
series. Surviving an issue longer than the New
Mutants, it has been co-opted by the British.
Stuart is now head of the Department, the
British organization that replaced Black Air
(see Excalibur 86ff). He knows Wisdom is up
to something. Wisdom says he knows about
British Intelligence's dissection lab, just as he
blows it up.
Six months later, a secret Russian lab is under
attack by Meatspore Stormtroopers, which are
self-replicating robots of flesh, accidentally
released.
Wisdom leads X-Force to the rescue. Sam
slams into the ground; the shock wave kills
many. Jesse disrupts the electronics, and
Tabitha makes shows new skill with her
bombs.
Wisdom offers to lead them in crusade against
secret anti-mutant conspiracies.
In San Francisco, a girl goes berserk on the
street, lasers shooting from her eyes.

scientist
(Roman) working for Cuckoo, who
meanwhile sees a bio-reactor go off in San
Francisco. Tabitha tries to make Sam resent
Wisdom's authority; Sam hotly asserts it as a
collaboration.
Wisdom tells them that the CIA in the 50's
experimented with LSD on people and
collaborated with Cuckoo.
In San Francisco, people on the street
randomly erupt with mutant powers. X-
Force's SUV crashes on the way home.

Synopsis:	Roman and Ford jet to San Francisco, to
observe the results of an old experiment.
X-Force gets out of their crashed SUV and
finds cars full of unconscious people. Wisdom
has Sam and James (he can fly, now) carry
"his" X-Men and his battle-ax into the city,
where they are attacked. Wisdom takes them
to an abandoned (and illegal) SHIELD base.
He explains that the U.S. government set up
Cuckoo, under Roman, to play human vs.
mutant war games. So he made a bioreactor
to force latent mutants to mutate rapidly and
go insane, but the government shut him down
before he caused a real war.
But he didn't dismantle the device, just put it
on a slow timer. Wisdom sends them into the
melee to destroy the bioreactor.

Synopsis:	The team makes its way through the carnage
in San Francisco, while Wisdom taps into
Roman's security cameras. James uses a big
stick and super-speed to take down the crazed
mutants single-handedly. Together, they stop
another group of mutants attacking the police;
Jesse pushes his power and scrambles their
minds, which somehow reverts them to
normal.
They locate the bioreactor, 300 feet below a
particularly large and gruesome
amalgamation of mutants. Jesse scrambles the
minds, while Sam blasts straight down,
drilling a hole down to the reactor, and
destroys it.
Roman, meanwhile, has traced Wisdom's tap,
found him, and shot him.

Synopsis:	Wisdom's tombstone reads, "Stuff This for a
Lark." Tabitha is upset that none of his
Excalibur teammates shows up for the
funeral, but Sam says X-Force is out of the
loop, and they were probably busy. James is
worried that the X-Men have turned their
back on the whole team.
An old woman with thugs show up at the
gravesite; she tosses Wisdom a light. Domino
arrives and says it's Wisdom's sister.
Six months ago: after the High Evolutionary
(iss. 101; Uncanny X-Men 380), Domino
fights X-Force in a dockyard and defeats
them. She wants to train them as martial
artists, so they don't depend on their mutant
powers.
Wisdom shows up; after Genosha (iss. 95) he
offered to lead them against anti-mutant spies.
Sam and Jesse are in favor, since it would give
the team a purpose. Dani and Domino quit in
protest.
In the present, the team catches up in a
coffeehouse. Domino was possessed by
Aenteros (Cable 82) but doesn't remember
much about it. Now she needs X-Force,
because she is being hunted: she took a
mercenary job in New Delhi, to take down a
terrorist organization that was attacking a
Swiss conglomerate. But the mercenaries
weren't paid, and Domino realizes Tsung is
hunting her, killing two mercenaries in
passing.

Synopsis:	Six months ago: Wisdom trains X-Force in an
abandoned Hulkbuster base, with Danger
Room robots with no safety protocols. Jesse
and Tabitha expand control of their powers;
Sam practices as a field leader. Then Wisdom
makes them let James face the robots alone:
when the High Evolutionary played with their
powers, James got access to his entire genome
(iss. 101), and he learns to fly.
In the present: after Wisdom's murder, the
team quickly moved to an abandoned office in
a skyscraper in San Francisco; Wisdom taught
them to survive.
Domino briefs them on Tsung: half-
Hungarian and half-Chinese, he has the
mutant power of virtual bullets and used it to
build a criminal empire in Asia. Then one day
he walked away from it all and disappeared.
Domino knows he's after her, since he killed
her once before.
Tsung's jet lands in the desert in California; he
is greeted by government officials and kills
everyone to keep himself secret.

Synopsis:	Domino's back is half covered with a
parasite;
she has Jesse scan it, and he feels electric and
biomagnetic energies, then it scans him back.
She says she got it when she died: she knew
Tsung was after her, so she disguised herself,
but he still found her and shot her in Paris.
She woke in a morgue, about to be autopsied.
The parasite grown from her gunshot wound,
resurrected her and healed all previous scars.
Six months ago, Wisdom initiated X-Force
into the real, hidden world of espionage. He
says they need to know who to go to for help.
Tsung crashes a birthday party and kills
everyone there, so he can use the phone.
X-Force waits for a contact; a city bus pulls up
and morphs; they enter and are scanned. The
spies Abel, Baker, and Charlie are angry they
let Wisdom die, but they take a look at
Domino's back.
Domino tells Sam not to imitate Wisdom too
much: there is good in the world as well as
hatred.
The spies are unable to find any information
through their normal channels, but Jesse
suggests visual clues. They find a fossil dug up
in South Dakota in 1908 that matches, and it
is large.
Just then the bus is attacked by helicopters
with missiles.

Synopsis:	Words of Wisdom: "?throw a spanner in the
works and don't let anyone stop you."
The magic bus is under attack, so Sam lets two
helicopters chase him till they crash, while
Jesse (who is suddenly Sam's twin!) scrambles
the third's electrical systems. James pulls its
door off, lets bullets bounce off his chest, and
tries to make the pilot talk. But an invisible
bullet kills the guy first: Tsung has arrived.
Sam attacks, and his blast field mostly shields
him, but Tsung is fast. He climbs up a
building, kicks Sam out of the sky, then steps
on his throat to kill him slowly. Jesse
scrambles his brain to block his mutant
power, and James throws a punch, but Tsung
is a lethal martial artist as well as a mutant,
and he throws James into Jesse.
Tabitha sneaks up behind him, puts her hands
over his eyes, and makes a plasma bomb.
Tsung goes down, and Sam kisses Tabitha. But
then Tsung is up, pinching Tabitha in the back
of the neck to take her hostage. Domino finds
a rifle, but it is a standoff.
Romany appears and shoots Tsung, and her
men finish the job. She tells the magic bus
spies not to cross the line again, tells Sam he's
naÔve, and orders X-Force onto her helicopter.
She says the parasite on Domino's back is
what killed the dinosaurs. Domino, under its
control, grabs Sam and Romany by their
throats and sprouts toothed tentacles. Romany
puts her down with a tranquilizer gun.
X-Force sees the news, with the official story
of the helicopter crashes. Domino's operation
has been a success, but Romany can't really
explain what the parasite is (some sort of
sentient alien technology), or why Domino
was chosen, or who she works for. She says
her brother was an extremist with a history of
psychosis, guilty over being a secret anti-
mutant operative, a genetic traitor. She tells X-
Force to go home and get a life.

Domino

Synopsis:	In New York, Casey and his wife are having
trouble with a rebellious daughter. Warborgs
posing as cops ring the doorbell, kill the
parents, kidnap the girl, and blow up the
apartment.
A reporter says that much of San Francisco
was recently mutated (iss. 102-105), with loss
of life. Some of the crowd call for rounding up
all mutants; others are more tolerant.
Jesse gets angry at the bigots and explodes the
TV; Domino says if humans knew half of what
they did, they'd obliterate all mutants or die
trying.
Sam goes to check on Tabitha, who has been
quiet since she saw Tsung killed. She realizes
being mutant mercenaries isn't fun but is
dangerous. Neither of them wants to become
murderers. They kiss.
In New England, Racal recites a poem to a
couple, changing them into monsters. They
were moles, and it is war. He shoots their son.
In San Diego, two villains search a ship for
Rychenko. She attacks and kills them and
removes technology from their corpses.
Domino apologizes and says she's glad to lead
the team again. She has reviewed Wisdom's
files on anti-mutant crimes: 82 require "direct
action." She and Sam convince Tabitha and
James not to go after Roman immediately (iss.
105), since that's what he expects.
Jesse is having migraines; Domino realizes
someone's sending them a message in Morse
code: "Valentina," with some coordinates.
They realize it's Rychenko.

	Editor-in-Chief: Joe Quesada
Synopsis:	Rychenko is out of bullets and about to be
killed by Warborgs, on the authority of
Dumas and the Executive Security Committee,
but X-Force arrives and stomps them. Tabitha
tries to blind them with hard light blades, and
Jesse tries to short out their mechanical parts,
but they're heavily shielded, so Sam calls a
retreat and sends Jimmy to beat on them. He
does but gets poisoned in the process.
In New England, the two Russian spies who let
themselves be mutated into monsters look at
the teenage daughters they don't remember.
One feels betrayed and resists following
orders; Racal orders the other to kill him, then
sends her on a suicide mission while he
collects the girls. Progenitor observes but
doesn't interfere yet.
Rychenko dissects the brain of one of the
Warborgs to get its data cluster. She explains
they're reanimated Russian soldiers, killed in
Afghanistan and Chechnya. She's trailing their
creator, Racal. Tabitha has Domino read the
data cluster remotely via Sam's headset and is
disproportionately congratulated for the idea.
Jesse destabilizes Jimmy's nervous system
slightly, to keep him stable.
On the Helicarrier, Fury is briefed: recent
attacks on decommissioned bases by mutated
humans. They and the Warborgs are based on
the same decades-old Soviet technology, and
they aim to kill Rychenko and Sam.
Rychenko tells X-Force about it: volunteers
mutated and brainwashed to be moles in
America, activated by oral command. Two
decades later, Warborgs were sent to destroy
them before they become liabilities, but found
that some of them had children, which was
supposedly impossible. She takes them to
Racal's base, who is her father, and X-Force
starts to suspect her motives.

Synopsis:	Sam accuses Rychenko of lying; she says the
truth would have complicated things. He
demands they cure Jimmy, or he'll leave them
bloody; he takes Racal, and SHIELD sees him
blasting.
Tabitha asks Rychenko why her father has
girls in tanks, but she doesn't know. SHIELD
surrounds them, and other task forces
surround Domino in San Francisco, and Sam,
Jesse, Jimmy, and Racal. Fury tells Sam they
need to talk; he surrenders.
In the Ural Mountains of Russia, Roman has
girls in tanks.
Jimmy recovers; Fury explains they're going
after Roman, who killed Wisdom (iss. 105).
Racal had used specs from Cuckoo (corrupt
US spies) to make Meatspore Stormtroopers
(iss. 102), Warborgs, and sleeper agents, but
when his government decided to abduct the
innocent children of the sleepers, he decided
to act. To do so he had to activate the sleepers,
who were programmed to assassinate U.S.
soldiers.
	Fury wants X-Force to destroy Roman's base;
SHIELD can't because Russia is now friendly.
Roman is using the girls' ovaries to grow a
private army.

Synopsis:	"Once upon a time, we shared a noble man's
fine dream? and then we woke up!" X-Force
and Rychenko attack Roman's base. Sam has
Jesse disrupt all systems, so the only forces left
are Warborgs, then sends Jimmy in with two
Gatling guns. Roman recognizes them and
sends his collection of monsters to attack. Sam
concentrates his forces, making a way for
Domino and Rychenko to get to the cold
fusion reactor.
Roman, realizing he is in jeopardy, has Ford
wheel him to X-Force. He tells them they and
Wisdom were deceived. He's trying to save
humanity from an alien being which collided
with Earth long ago, forming the moon, and
shattering to bits, which have been growing as
parasites ever since (see iss. 108).
When he worked for Cuckoo, he realized its
real aim was to convert Earth into a living
alien ship; the Russians also realized this and
tried to kill him; he used Cuckoo's technology
to heal himself and was monstrously
transformed. "I'm also missing half of my
brain, but I get by. I haven't slept since 1971
and exist mostly on baby food and prescribed
narcotics injected into my brain stem."
Spies observe and remotely activate the
Vibranium Initiative, which transforms
Rychenko into a bomb and explodes her.

off,
to a lunching couple's approval. James flies to
safety with Jesse and Domino. Gentechnic was
harvesting tissues from mutant infants to cure
rich people's diseases. X-Force has just blown
up their building: the couple was Tabitha and
Sam, his hair dyed black. They plan their next
mission, having decided to play dead and
operate overseas. Domino uses her luck to
win lottery money to finance them.
Shadow operatives track them en route to
Australia; Domino senses something wrong,
so they don't get on the plane, which Corben
knocks out of the sky with eyebeams. James
flies up to confront her, then brings her down
for the team to interrogate. Jesse tortures her,
making her brain sense pain, then puts her
into a coma. Sam preps the team to go after
the people who tried to kill them twice now.

Synopsis:	Then: James and Jesse attack Stuart's
bodyguards in the streets of London and
kidnap him.
Now: a wounded and defeated Domino says
attacking British Intel was the beginning of
the end, and not everyone survived.
Then: Stuart is shocked to find Wisdom, but
Sam says it's just him with black hair. X-Force
was supposedly killed in Russia (iss. 113);
Stuart realizes they've been working with
Wisdom's files. They want his help; he needs
convincing; they relate their recent woes up to
the interrogation of Corben (iss. 94-114):
Romany Wisdom ordered them killed. Stuart
says she heads a secret operation, but they
could trace her through the parasite removed
from Domino.
They attack her base, and she let them take
out her men, but then orders them to
surrender, die, or join her team. She takes
them on a tour of the massive, underground
base, constructed of technology like the alien
parasite. She has culled death-row inmates
and is using them as symbiotes to rewrite the
human genome and eliminate disease and
crime, in line with the alien technology.
She notes X-Force killed Gentechnic personnel
who had families (last iss.); Jesse notes she's
full of alien technology. They refuse to join
her, so she sics symbiotes on them. Tabitha
and Sam are overwhelmed before Jesse can
use his power to disrupt them. Domino was
evacuated by helicopter and doesn't know if
anyone else survived.
Pete Wisdom is with her interviewers; he has
been dead, too, and thinks his sister will have
escaped. He manipulated X-Force into saving
the world and says they'll be back, too, when
you least expect them.
